ASHTANGA YOGA
An Ashtanga yoga practice is intense and involves constant movement. A series of poses are repeated at a fast pace, and meditation is not an integral part of the routine. Also called Power Yoga. Since Ashtanga can be a physical challenge, it is not suited for beginners.

BIKRAM YOGA
Based on the premise that sweating cleanses the body of toxins and helps relieve pain, Bikram Yoga is practiced in a studio heated to approx. 105 degrees Fahrenheit. Sometimes known as Hot Yoga, a Bikram yoga routine is generally 90 minutes long and involves a set of 26 postures, as well as some breathing exercises. It is advisable to consult a physician before taking a Bikram class.

VINYASA YOGA
Like Ashtanga, Vinyasa is a flowing form of yoga involving movement that is similar to dance. But unlike Ashtanga, the series of movements in a Vinyasa routine can vary according to the student's needs. With a strong emphasis on flowing movement and breath control, Vinyasa is one of the more widely practiced forms of Yoga in the West.

IYENGAR YOGA
A form of Hatha Yoga, Iyengar uses props such as blocks, straps, chairs and blankets to help maintain perfect physical alignment. Although props are now used in other forms of yoga, founder B.K.S. Iyengar was the first to include them in a yoga routine. Poses are held for extended periods of time in order to get the body aligned. Not as strenuous as Power Yoga, Iyengar does however built strength and flexibility. A good choice for those who are not physically fit.
